Mineta San José International Airport is committed to successful
partnerships with its airlines that benefit Silicon Valley residents and business.
Building a world-class airport and ensuring comprehensive air service are
essential for the economic development of San José and Silicon Valley.
To this end the Airport works with domestic and international airlines to
encourage new destinations, and it relies on the regular engagement from
leading Silicon Valley employers and travel professionals.
The Airport has established a strong airline incentive program that waives
operating and landing fees for airlines to encourage new non-stop domestic and
international flights that achieve the goals of both the airport and its carriers.
The following incentive program was updated by the San José City Council on
April 21, 2009. The Airport’s incentives to airlines for new flights to
designated unserved and underserved destinations include:
New short-haul domestic 12-month 100% fee waiver
New medium-haul domestic 24-month fee waiver: 100% first year and 50% second year
New short-haul international 24-month fee waiver: 100% first year and 50% second year
New long-haul international 36-month fee waiver: 100% first year, 66% second year, 33% third year
In addition to contributing to the Silicon Valley economy and meeting the needs of the
traveling public, new air service will stimulate additional Airport revenues from food,
beverage and retail sales; parking and rental car fees; and passenger facility charges
that help support the Airport’s operation and development.
If you are a Silicon Valley corporation and would like to provide the Airport with information
about your business’s travel needs and desired destinations, please contact Ed Nelson,
Air Service Development Director, at 408-501-7603, or email him at enelson@sjc.org.
